Papua New Guinea

About Papua New Guinea:
There are over 800 different groups of people in PNG-and each group speaks its own language! Even people living in valleys quite close to one another often don’t speak the same language. It’s a good thing most people speaks “Tok Pisin,” a kind of pidgin, or simplified, English.
Papua New Guinea is mostly mountainous (highest peak: Mount Wilhelm at 4,509 m; 14,793 ft) and mostly covered with tropical rainforest, as well as very large wetland areas surrounding the Sepik and Fly rivers. Papua New Guinea is surrounded by coral reefs which are under close watch to preserve them.
The mainland of the country is the eastern half of New Guinea island, where the largest towns are also located, including the capital Port Moresby and Lae; other major islands within Papua New Guinea include New Ireland, New Britain, Manus and Bougainville.

How are we linking with Papua New Guinea?
There are 10 CRC Bible Colleges in PNG, and as a Church we sponsor the Bible College on KarKar Island, Madang Province. KarKar Island has 11 churches, and 4 Outreaches operating over the Island.
Every second year TurningPoint sends a team up to Madang and Kar Kar Island to minister to the people; through craft and cooking classes, evangelism, teaching in the Bible School and linking with the children, Youth, Ladies and Mens.
We visit the local churches on the island as well as conducting combined crusades around the island.
Every second year Pastor Norma leads a team of Female Pastors, Pastors wives and key Female leaders from across Australia to PNG to minister at the National CRC ladies Conference and Provinces within PNG.
Since 1994 The Bible school in Kar Kar has released Ministry and Missions that are assisting in planting over 50 Churches throughout PNG.

How can you be involved?

Pray –
For the KKMTC students. For the teams as they go. That pastors faithfully teach the bible to their people so that they will learn to follow and obey Jesus and no be afraid of spirits. For the churches on KarKar Island and the mainland of Madang. For new churches to be established. That Christian leaders in churches and in the government will be good examples to those they serve.
Give –
Provide resources and gifts for teams as they go. Sponsor someone to go. Sponsor someone to go to Bible School.
Go –
Plan to go and contribute your talents and skills.
