About India:
India is a Federal Republic comprising of 28 States and 7 Union Territories. Andhra Pradesh, India’s fifth largest state in terms of area (275,608 sq. km), lies in the south-eastern part of India, with its coastline stretching for over a distance of 1200 kilometres, from Orissa to Tamil Nadu. It embraces twenty-three districts and stands surrounded by Tamil Nadu in the south, Maharashtra & Chattisgarh in the north, Karnataka in the west and Orissa in the Northeast.
The state takes its name from the Andhra people, the indigenous inhabitants of the area. Vishakapatnam is an Eastern coastal, port city in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh offers historical monuments and rich culture. Known as the “Rice Granary of
India”, Andhra Pradesh is the largest producer of rice in India.
How are we linking with India?
TurningPoint supports India Harvest Bible College by sponsoring Bible school students to undergo 6 months intensive ministry training.
The students who graduate from the Bible College, are serving the Lord in various villages in the state of Andhra Pradesh and now in the remotest parts of the state of Orissa and Chattisgaeh. The students who go out to villages and pioneer churches live in the community, evangelize among the local villagers, conduct Group prayer meetings and run church services.
TurningPoint also supports some of the young Pastors as they pioneer Churches in these villages.
TurningPoint church along with City Life church provided the finances to fund the present church building of the Waltair Christian Fellowship Centre in the city of Visakhapatnam. Today, this is a fastly growing vibrant church with 400 people.
In the last 10 years God has enabled 41 churches to be planted under the ministry of Harvest Missions International in areas such as Orissa, Chattisgaeh and Andhra Pradesh.
Over and above these chruches that are directly related to Ps.Divakar, the Bible School students have assisted other church movements to plant over 150 churches throughout India.
How can you be involved?
- Pray –
- That the Bible College students will further take the gospel to the vast unreached parts of India. For Ps. Divakar, his wife Charis and his children. Pray that the anti-Christians will realise Christ’s love for them and stop hindering the Gospel.

- Contact Greg Ohlson if you would like to sponsor or co-sponsor a student in the Bible college. You can also get involved in fundraising activities that TurningPoint undertakes to support this venture.

- Undertake a missions trip to India.
